‘The Suspicions of Mr. Whicher-The Murder at Road Hill House’ is not just a detective novel, it is also a wonderful look at the history of Victorian Britain and its social values. This alone makes it a very interesting read, however the main excitement of the book is based around a horrific country house murder in 1860. The fact that it is based on a true story (the author used original police papers from the National Archives) makes it all the more fascinating for the reader. Read more
